How to Create Formula Lanscape

Step 1

Create a new document sized 400*300px, add a Gradient Fill layer on top with a light grey gradient (I used #fcfcfc to #e0e0e0):

Step 2

Type any word, get it Coolvetica font you've downloaded with 76pt sized and #000a89 color. Take it on the center of the picture.

Step 3

Place it another objects such us formulas, blueprint, design, and explanation. Just search it on Google and you will find a lot of them. Click and drag the picture, choose Multiply. Darken the image using Burn Tool.

For the colored image, choose Image – Adjustments – Hue/Saturation... configure the saturation to -100

Do it for all pictures. Don't forget to Multiply them.

Tips: You can also reduce the picture's opacity to get mixed effect between those image and the paper. I make the the formula's (Below right side) opacity in to 75%.

Tips: For .gif image, you can't open and place it directly. Choose File – Place... - Browse your .gif image.

Next, make a new layer below the text. Use your Brush Tool with Soft Round shaped and 90 px sized. Brush with white color under the “formula” area.

Next, rasterize the text. Erase some part of it using Grunge Brush you have downloaded.

Use your Polygonal Lasso Tool. Take some parts of the text, then delete or move it to another direction.

Step 4

In this step, we will give a texture for this image. Merge all of those layers, right click on any layer, choose Flatten Image. Go to Menu Bar, choose Filter – Filter Gallery... Now, choose Texturizer option and set the configuration as the picture below.

Step 5

Make a new document with 1280*430 px sized. Place the formula image to new document. Place it to the center and rotate.

Give a wood texture for the desk. Place the wood texture you've downloaded on the background.

Tips: If the size of the texture is too big, you should fit it as the size of the background.

Next, give the formula image shadow. Choose the layer, click fx icon and choose Drop Shadow... When you set the configuration you can click and drag the shadow directly on the picture to change it's position.

Tips: You should know yourself about the quantity or intensity of the shadow according the condition of the image. So, you don't have to configure the setting same as mine.

Step 6

In this step, we will give objects on our desk. It's necessary to make it full of stuff, so you  may give another stuff which not listed on the download list before. Open a blueprint of aircarft you've downloaded.

To make a blueprint effect, change the format of the picture from Grayscale to RGB Color. Click Image – Mode – RGB Color.

Create a new layer of gradient (Click Layer – New Fill Layer – Gradient...) . Set the color from #0f00d4 to #00097f with Radial style.

Next, double click the blueprint layer and OK to rasterize. Move it to the top of the blue layer. 

Now, invert the blueprint to get negative effect. Press Ctrl+I or click Image – Adjustments – Invert. Then, change the format to Linear Dodge

Tips: Brush the image using Dodge Tool to get brighter line of the image.

Next, right click the layer and choose Flatten Image. Then, place it to our document. Don't forget to resize and give it shadow as previous trick.

Open your notebook image, erase the white background using Magic Eraser Tool.

Take any screenshot of your PC, then place it to Macbook's screen. Resize it until fit (Use Free Transform and Distort). Then, click fx icon and choose Inner Shadow... Set the configuration as the picture below:

Next, right click on that layer, choose Merge Layers. Take certain picture using Polygonal Lasso Tool. Then, give shadow for the notebook.

Tips: Here, I set the notebook's shadow 10 px sized. You can see that the shadow's type between the notbook and the paper are little different. Remember, it depended on your imagination and creativity. Lighting in photoshop such us difficult thing.

Open the book template. It's too big and you have to resize it. It's also empty, so you should fill it with any lesson material. I added Wikipedia as the lesson. Open your browser and take a screenshot for those article and replace it to the book. Do it for first page.

Tips: Due to low resolution, you have to add it one by one.

Okay, now, merge all of articles's layers.

Right click and choose Free Transform. Right click again and choose Warp. Follow the contour of the book's shape. After that, change the article format to Multiply.

Do it same for second page. After that, right click any layer and choose Merge Visible. Place it to our document. Give it shadow as usual.

Now, open your smartphone image. You can change the display of your phone by any picture or screenshot using previous trick. To give glossy effect for the smartphone, take a certain part of the image, then duplicate it (Ctrl+J). Ctrl+Click on the new layer. Give a singgle click by using your brush tool with pure white color. Last, merge those layers (Right click, choose Merge Visible).

Place the smartphone to our document.

Tips: Add Inner Shadow to get more realistic 3D effect (Optional)

Open your Adobe Illustrator. Then, exctract and open “bz1” of coffe's document. Delete the shadow and the text of it. Now, you can export it as .png or save it as .ai document as before.

Next, open the new image and place it to our document. Don't forget to give a shadow.

Step 7

At last step, I just add another ornaments such us pencil, pen, and hand. Just open whatever stuff and put it on the document, not too difficult. Then, don't forget to give shadow.
